Wedding DJ Kojonup WA

Calm in the lead-up. Dance-floor on the night. Kojonup is the upper-Great-Southern crossroads town — Albany Highway midway between Perth and the coast.

Check My Date

Kojonup is the Great Southern transit hub — halfway between Perth and Albany on the highway, and the natural meeting point for couples whose families are split between the city and the south coast. Weddings here are often farm-and-shed weddings: big skies, long tables, and a guest list that’s done at least two of the four hours of driving to be there.

One hire, one face — DJ and MC. Farm-and-shed weddings have more moving parts than venue weddings. Generators, marquee guys, wind, dust. Adding a second vendor to coordinate doesn’t help. Starma trained in both DJ and MC and runs the night as one voice.

A farm-shed read, not a club read. The acoustics of a corrugated-iron shed are unforgiving — bass bounces, voices wash out, and the temperature swings 15°C across the night. Starma’s done enough rural-shed weddings to know how to EQ for it without making it sound like a high-school dance.

Mid-haul, single-day-doable. Tenterden base is about an hour south of Kojonup. It’s a longer haul than Mount Barker but not an overnight job. Travel surcharge is reasonable, and Starma’s on the road home the same night.

Kojonup wedding venues Starma plays

A short list of Kojonup-area wedding venues Starma knows. Not exhaustive — if your venue isn’t here, ask, because most of the time he’s been there at least once.

Kojonup Memorial Hall

Town-centre community venue — the classic Australian country-town wedding hall. BYO catering, BYO booze, cheap to hire.

Kodja Place

Local cultural and event centre. Smaller events; intimate-scale receptions and after-ceremony drinks.

Rose Maze

Iconic Kojonup ceremony spot — outdoor formal garden setting. Ceremony only; reception elsewhere.

Cherry Tree Cottages

Country-cottage accommodation that hosts intimate weddings (up to ~60 guests) on the property.

Stirling Range NP (ceremony day-trip)

Many Kojonup couples do the ceremony at a Stirling Range lookout and the reception at a town venue. Day-trip-doable from Kojonup; needs careful timing.

Frequently asked questions

Yes — Kojonup is about an hour north of Tenterden home base. Travel surcharge applies but is proportionate to the Great Southern, and there’s no overnight needed.
Yes. Starma trained formally in both and runs the night as one voice. Particularly useful for shed-and-marquee weddings where vendor count needs to stay low.
No — it’s the standard Kojonup setup. Generator-powered PA setups are part of the kit, and Starma will work out the power budget with you in the run-sheet call so the lighting doesn’t drop out when the kettle goes on.
All planned for in advance. Outdoor ceremony PA is battery-powered and weather-sealed. Reception audio has a covered-setup contingency. Run-sheet builds in 30-min weather flex.
